The ideal area for walking and mountain sports for a family holiday in the Tyrol
It's plain for all to see: A new zest for walking has gripped Europe. And what is especially pleasing is that this desire is experienced by people of all ages. It's not only athletic-minded adults, but many, many children run enthusiastically about our alpine meadows, learn about the nature of the alps in the Ötz valley, marvel at the chamois, ibexes, marmots and eagles and befriend the cows and horses in the meadows... the Hochoetz alpine region is the region for walks for all the family in the Ötz valley. Gentle slopes lead up over peaceful green meadows to mountain huts where there are not only good refreshments but many interesting things to see and do. There are easy forest paths that you can get to the Acherberg, Balbach and Kühtaile Alps (Almen) even with a pushchair (the path up to the Hochoetz Alps using the modern 8 seater cabin car is child's play. The panoramic restaurant is right next to the top station. Here you can just sit back and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, while your children can enjoy themselves in the wigwam, and all this at very family-friendly prices.
The meditation trail with its eight thought-provoking stopping points offer excellent entertainment for the whole family. Then, of special historical interest, there's the miners' trail that leads you and your family up into the alpine landscape to almost 2, 500 metres, where miners using only their physical strength mined the precious ore almost 400 years ago.
